Research Unbound: A Library Orientation for Transfer, Upper-Division, and Graduate Students

This micro-course, which involves a series of online modules, will help you learn about the University Libraries' resources available to you, and will equip you with the skills you need to be an effective researcher.

Discipline-Focused Research

Discipline-Focused Research

As you progress through your academic career, you will find that you need more discipline-focused research. To meet that need, OU Libraries creates discipline-specific research guides, so you know which resources are best for your purposes. OU's librarians also focus their work in particular subject areas -- so while any librarian can help you with general research, you can seek out specific librarians for discipline-specific questions.

Discipline-Specific Research Resources

A good starting point for any discipline-specific research is to use the course and subject guides available through the main menu on OU Libraries website:

These pages are created and maintained by subject librarians (more on them later!) -- they contain information on and links to resources that are most useful for a specific course or a subject area, as well as the contact information for the subject librarian.

Find Your Subject Librarian

Figuring out the subject librarian for a discipline is easy: the Subject Librarians page on the OU Libraries website -- and seen below -- lists all librarians by subject and by librarian name. Librarians' names are linked to their personal pages, where you can contact them via email or set up an appointment.
