Looking for specific sources for a research project, or to reserve or request library materials? Here's how to get started searching and saving your resources in Library OneSearch.

Finding Books

Finding books and e-books in Library OneSearch

Depending on what type of book you're looking for (either print books or ebooks), you can engage with Library OneSearch in a few different ways to find what you need.

Title Search for a Print Book

In Library OneSearch, enter the title you are looking for in the search bar (either the basic search option, or in the advanced search option as shown below). For example, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Note that the search results show both print and electronic items.

To narrow down the results to show only books, click on “print books” under the "Source Type" filter in the upper toolbar. Click "Apply."

To note, Library OneSearch will keep the filter(s) you’ve chosen from search to search. You can review the active filters at the upper left in the toolbar under the "All Filters" button (red box).

To remove an active filter, click the x next to the filter you want to remove from your search (red box).

Now you can examine the search results for the matching title. When you've run your search and found the material(s) you're looking for, you can click on the item record for anything you'd like to review in full. The item's catalog record will open to provide more information about the title, including where you can find it in the library (red box). At any point you can click the "Results" link in the upper left of the catalog record to return to the search results (blue box).

Users can download a limited access copy of the ebook to their device. If you haven't logged into Library OneSearch with your institutional credentials (i.e., Net ID), you may be prompted to do so before the download completes. Following this, a copy of the ebook will be downloaded to your device (note: this is not a permanent download; the ebook will be automatically removed from your device at the end of the loan period).
