Research Data Support

Guidance for planning, organizing, securing and sharing research data.

Funder requirements

Many funding agencies (both public and private) require grant applicants to include a data management plan (DMP) with new grant applications. When applying for a grant, always check both the funding agency website and the funding opportunity annoucement (FOA) carefully to determine whether a DMP is required and what information should be included (since the requirements contained in individual FOAs may differ from the general requirements of the funder).

Why do funders require DMPs?

  • Increased transparency, reproducibility and efficiency of research
  • Increased awareness that data is a valuable part of research that need to be shared and preserved
