The DMP Tool is a free, open-source, application maintained by the California Digital Library that helps researchers create data management plans (DMPs). These plans are required by many funding agencies as part of the grant proposal submission process. The DMP Tool provides a click-through wizard for creating a DMP that complies with funder requirements. It also has direct links to funder websites, help text for answering questions, and data management best practices resources (adapted from dmptool.org).

The Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) is an association of federal agencies, research policy organizations and academic research institutions with administrative, faculty and technical representation. The FDP’s mission is to streamline the administration of federally sponsored research and create resources that are available to the research enterprise regardless of membership status (adapted from thefdp.org).
The FDP is currently testing the effectiveness and usability of two templates for the creation of NIH data management and sharing (DMS) plans. Both FDP templates are available through the DMPTool.
