Many funding agencies (both public and private) require grant applicants to include a data management plan (DMP) with new grant applications. But aside from such requirements, a DMP establishes a common understanding for all members of a project team of how and where research data will be acquired, processed, stored, safeguarded and shared.
Even a simple DMP is a valuable tool for avoiding risk and maximizing the value of the research data you collect.
