Sustainability at Kresge Library

Information and resources for promoting sustainability at our library.

Little Free Library

Kresge Library’s Little Free (Fun Reading) Library!

Close to the cafe in the library, you will find shelves of FREE novels and popular nonfiction books. This effort is organized by the sustainability committee in order to keep books out of landfills and provide "fun" reading opportunities for the campus community. Read on for the guidelines.

What are these books?

These are free, casual or fun reading books for you to peruse and take for your enjoyment. As with any free library, the idea is “need a book, take a book; have a book, leave a book!”

I LOVE books. Can I have them all?

We are a community of book lovers! We encourage you to take only one at a time, and return or replace what you take.

Can I donate…(my textbooks/my late great-uncle’s collection of numismatic guides/the free Bibles that are handed out every year)?

The purpose of this collection is to provide materials for enjoyment and relaxation, to support mental health and promote reading for pleasure. We would prefer you keep these guidelines in mind when considering what you want to drop off. Kresge Library can and will recycle items that we feel don’t fit the purpose of this collection or that are not seeing any use.

As with when you take a book, please donate only 1-2 items at a time.

I have more questions.
