HOW TO: Putting Resources Into RefWorks

If you are working in one of OU Libraries' databases or Library OneSearch, you can directly export a resource's information into your account. You can find detailed instructions for each OU Libraries resource in this guide.

Exporting References

Direct Export to Legacy RefWorks (orange) OR ProQuest RefWorks (blue):

  1. Conduct your search and Save the records you want to import.
  2. In the top toolbar, click on More and select My Folder.
  3. In the menu on the right, click on Citation Tools.
  4. A new window will allow you to either save or export your citations. From the Export To options below the citations, choose RefWorks.
  5. Select your version and log into RefWorks if you haven't done so already.
  6. Your records will be downloaded automatically and should appear in the Last Imported folder.


These instructions are valid for the following databases:

  • DemographicsNow
  • Dictionary of Literary Biography (DLB)
  • Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO)
  • Opposing Viewpoints in Context
