The library is actively partnering with publishers and vendors to improve the accessibility of our digital collections—so that all users can engage with content in ways that meet their individual needs. While accessible design plays a critical role in supporting users with disabilities, it also benefits everyone by enabling mobile access, flexible reading options, and personalized learning experiences.
As part of these efforts, we’re preparing for the upcoming European Accessibility Act (EAA), which goes into effect in June 2025. This legislation introduces mandatory accessibility requirements for digital content and services, including eBooks.
Leading vendors like ProQuest and EBSCO are already rolling out platform updates to comply with the EAA. Improvements include better screen reader support, keyboard navigation, text reflow, and alternative format options.
