MeLCat (Michigan Electronic Library) is an online catalog service that allows OU students, faculty, and staff to request books from libraries all over Michigan and have them delivered to Kresge Library for pick up.

  • The fastest way to borrow something not available at OU.
  • Recommended for books, DVDs, and CDs.
  • Find the book you need and login to place a request using your name and full G#.
  • You'll receive an email when the book is ready for pick up.

ILLiad is the service you use to place orders for interlibrary loans from all over the world.

  • Use for journal articles, book chapters, and books that aren't available from MeLCat.
  • Login to ILLiad and fill out a request form.

Copy Service

Copy Service

This is a free service offered to the students, faculty, and staff of Oakland University to provide copies of print materials owned by the Oakland University Libraries. The requested journal articles and book chapters are retrieved from the stacks, copied, and delivered electronically.

  • Any request found in the stacks will be guaranteed a forty-eight hour turnaround. Requests for items not located in the stacks will be routed to interlibrary loan. Such requests will be governed by the regular interlibrary loan turnaround time.
  • Requests must be submitted using ILLiad. Users must select Copy Service from the left navigation menu. 
  • All completed requests will be delivered electronically as PDFs. Patrons will be notified by email when materials are ready to be accessed.
