Research Unbound: Being an Effective Researcher at OU

This micro-course involves a series of online modules designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to find, evaluate, and use information -- as a student, but also for personal and professional needs.

This micro-course is broken up into topical lessons. Please work through them in order, as concepts and knowledge build as you work through the course. You'll learn more about:

  • Different information types, including who creates them, where they're located, and how you can find them
  • Critically evaluating the information you find, including considering what kinds of information are valuable in different contexts
  • Evaluating the search results you find, whether on the Internet or in library databases;
  • Taking the next steps in your academic research, including making connections across the information sources you find and expanding your own inquiry
  • And, making the most of OU Libraries' services and resources on-campus and off-campus

If you have any questions or comments about this micro-course, please contact Amanda Nichols Hess, nichols@oakland.edu.
