Instruction & Research Help at OU Libraries

Library Moodle Widget

The "Library Resources" widget is a tool in Moodle that allows faculty to add library materials to their course pages seamlessly. This integration bridges the gap between the Libraries' extensive collection and OU's digital classrooms.

Why integrate the Library Resources Widget in Moodle?

  • Easy Access: Students can access relevant library resources directly from their course page, eliminating the need to navigate away from Moodle
  • Time-Saving: Faculty can quickly add a link to appropriate library resources without the hassle of tracking down multiple resources
  • Customizable: Tailor the resources displayed to match your course syllabus by reaching out to your subject librarian and having a library course guide developed

How to Add the Library Resources Widget to your Moodle Course:

  1. Log into Moodle and open up a course
  2. Click on the Add an activity or resource option
  3. Select Library Resources from the list
  4. Follow the prompts to add the widget to your Moodle course

Once added to your course, a link to library resources will appear, and following that link will open up a page of library resources in Moodle!

If a librarian has developed a course guide for your class, then the content from that guide will show up in this space. But if no course guide exists for your class, a more general list of subject-related resources will appear.

If you'd like to have a library course guide developed for your class, please contact your subject librarian
