Omeka S sites are built around a collection of items, the building blocks of Omeka S. Items are individual pieces of media (photos, documents, video, etc.) that are associated with descriptive information, or metadata, that provides useful information about each item. Metadata can provide a title and description for each item and describe the date the item was created, the creator of each item, etc.
Item sets are a group of items associated with a particular Omeka site. An Omeka site automatically creates a browseable and searchable collection from the set of items associated with that site.
Users of Omeka S sites can browse and search through your collections of items. You can use Pages to communicate additional information about your project. Pages can be used to provide textual introductions, highlight particular items, organize items with a particular narrative, or present interactive features like timelines or maps. Pages contain individual blocks, which allow you to add unique content to particular pages.
