The Access Services department connects the University Libraries' users to its collections, services and spaces, in support of teaching, learning, research and public service at Oakland University. Explore their services below.

Accessing Materials at Kresge Library

Learn how to interact with the library's physical collections to find the resources you need.

Although many of our library resources and services are available in electronic formats, Kresge Library still retains a robust collection of physical materials for use inside and outside the library. Check out the links below to learn more about engaging with our physical collections.

Course Reserves

Kresge Library's Course Reserves service is to support OU’s teaching and scholarship.

Find materials selected for your courses that have been set aside specifically for student use. For information about course reserves, including how to access reserve materials, click here to visit the main page.

Interlibrary Loan

Looking for a title that's not in Kresge Library's collection? Request it via interlibrary loan!

Interlibrary loan is a free service that's available to all students, faculty, and staff of Oakland University. It allows you to obtain books, book chapters, copies of journal articles, and other scholarly materials from other libraries throughout the state. Think of it like a huge borrowing system!

There are various channels for requesting items from interlibrary loan, depending on the type of item you'd like to request. Visit the pages linked below for more information about these services. For general information about interlibrary loan at Kresge Library, visit the home page.


ILLiad

ILLiad is the electronic system which allows users to request an item through interlibrary loan. Fill out a request form for the item you need, and receive an electronic copy within 24-48 hours (depending on item type).

MeLCat

The Michigan eLibrary Catalog (MeLCat) is a statewide network of Michigan libraries sharing resources with each other. The catalog lists items held by participating Michigan libraries and provides a way for patrons to search and request items to be delivered to their home library.

Library Spaces

Working in a group or studying on your own? Make a reservation for a study room in Kresge Library.

Individual Study Spaces

Hunker down for a quiet study session in a single-student study room. Most study rooms are available by reservation.

Group Study Spaces

Working on a group project or cramming for an exam with classmates? Kresge Library's second and fourth floors have study tables, laptop carrels, computers, and collaboration areas with large-screen computers for all of your studying needs.
