The Rod and Susan Wilson Collection of Rochester (MI) History

 

The Wilsons

Rod and Susan Wilson are active collectors of Rochester history memorabilia with deep roots in the Rochester Avon area. They are members of numerous local and Michigan historical organizations and authors of many publications and tours on local history.

Assembled over decades, their collection includes their personal research files as well as books, periodicals, photos, manuscripts, posters, objects, and other items documenting the history of the greater Rochester area.

The Wilson collection includes numerous books, magazines, and newspapers that all have a connection to Rochester, Michigan.

These are either written by a Rochester-based author or deal with an aspect of Rochester's history and activities.

Snook Family papers

John J. Snook (1842-1923) was a farmer, poet, and Civil War veteran who lived in Rochester, Michigan.

Rod and Susan Wilson were lucky to stumble upon his papers by accident and donated them as part of their collection of Rochester history.

Matteson-Ostrom Family Collection

The Matteson-Ostrom Family Collection was preserved by Ella Ostrom and donated to Rod and Susan Wilson, whose collection of Rochester history Oakland University acquired in 2018.

It consists of letters, diaries, and some ephemera as well as genealogical research notes conducted by Rod and Susan Wilson.
