You need to find peer-reviewed education related articles, so how do you get started? One of the best ways to find articles in the field of education is to use the ERIC database. Use ERIC from the OU libraries’ website since other versions of ERIC will not link to the libraries’ full-text holdings. The instructions below are illustrated in the included slide show.
1. Start at the library's website, library.oakland.edu and click Databases under Find on the left side of the screen.
2. Select the letter E, then scroll down.
3. Choose ERIC from the list.
If you’re accessing ERIC from off-campus, you will need to log in with your NetID and password.
4. From the ERIC Advanced Search Screen, enter “full day kindergarten” on the first line.
5. Now check the box Peer Reviewed.
6. Click Search.
7. Now be sure to limit to scholarly articles in the left column. The other items are reports that are usually more difficult to find in full-text.
8. You now have 53 peer reviewed articles on full day kindergarten. Click the title of any of these articles to find more information about the article.
9. This brings up the abstract which describes the article so you can see if it's worth pursuing.
