Counseling

Other Types of Academic Sources

In addition to academic articles, you may also need to find other academic sources for your assignments, projects, coursework, or research.

These information sources may include:

  • Books or book chapters -- both in print and online
  • Reference resources -- like encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks -- both in print and online
  • Other people's graduate work, which are called dissertations or theses
  • Streaming video that's focused on academic topics
  • Statistics and data, as well as the tests, instruments, and measures used to gather this information

While these resources don't present original research like you'll find in academic articles, they do share different kinds of valuable information that you can use for your assignments -- including historical, factual, and contextual information about a topic or idea.

Use the sub-pages to find the most useful academic resources for counseling-related topics.
